 Reader Service:
The ICL provides a quiet and comfortable reading room. Readers are most welcome to make use of its facilities for reading and research purposes.
Reader's requirement:
Holder of National Central Library card
Entrance requirement:
Readers may use their ID card or any personal identification document to get a visitor's card at the service counter of the first floor. The visitor's card as well as a library card from the NCL may be used to enter the library.
The library uses an open-stacks system. Readers may freely take any book from the shelf but may read them only inside the library. The most recent reference materials like yearbooks, directories, etc. are kept at the service counter. These may be consulted upon request.
Readers are requested to abide by the rules and regulations of the library.

Information Retrieval Service:
|
In the reading room the computers are available for readers to conduct online information retrieval and CD-ROM database searching. At present, the electronic databases are classified as follows: 1. full-text database 2. bibliographic, index and abstract database 3. business enterprise database 4.electronic reference books.
Any database developed or purchased by the National Central Library are directly accessible.

Readers may use the following methods to ask information related to computer and information technology:

Interlibrary Cooperation Service:
Readers may request photocopies from the ICL collections through interlibrary cooperation service

Non-print Materials Service:
CD-ROM database, instructional CD-ROM, microfiches, tapes and other non-print materials as well as their corresponding equipment are available for internal use.

|
Copy Service:
Without infringing copyright laws, readers may avail of the photocopiers to facilitate researches. Readers may purchase copy machine cards at the ICL service counter for self-service photocopying.
All photocopying should be terminated 10 minutes before the closure of the library.

Internet Access :
To facilitate online search and connection, web sites related to information, computers, web-based online learning on the policies, plans, organizations, company directories, standards, patents, regulations, statistics, FAQ, news, search tools, electronic publications, graduate school entrance examination papers are placed on the ICL home page.

E-learning Services :
Besides the production of "Information Journey" web-title (http://infotrip.ncl.edu.tw) and CD-ROM information educational promotion, the ICL launched E-learning services named "NCL E-learning Campus" (http://cu.ncl.edu.tw) focusing on promoting information literacy educational programs, encouraging online learning in order to increase individual information seeking ability, providing alternative professional development opportunity for librarians, and encouraging enthusiasm for lifelong learning in this country.
